We are all still deeply shaken and endlessly saddened by the landslide in Blatten on 28 May 2025. With large parts of the village of Blatten buried, around 2 km of the valley road is also impassable. This means that Fafleralp will certainly not be accessible to camping vehicles before summer 2027. Camping Fafleralp will therefore remain closed for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. 

We would like to thank you, dear guests, for your interest in our restaurant and Camping Fafleralp. We are heartened by the many comforting expressions of solidarity and find strength in our belief in the future – for the Lötschental and for us.

Camping Fafleralp closed

The Lötschental Valley, particularly the village of Blatten and the hamlet of Ried, was severely affected by the glacier collapse and landslide of 28 May 2025. Since then, Fafleralp has no longer been accessible for motorhomes, caravans and other camping vehicles. Rebuilding the valley road will take several years.

For this reason, Gastro & Camping Fafleralp will remain closed for at least the 2025 and 2026 summer seasons.

If you are planning a camping holiday in the Lötschental, we recommend Camping Lötschental in Kippel.

However, Fafleralp can once again be reached by PostBus via the temporary access road and is an excellent starting point for numerous hiking trails. Please note that advance reservation is required for the Fafleralp Hiking Bus.

Hotel Fafleralp is open and welcomes hikers to its beautiful terrace set among the larch trees. Enjoy a refreshing drink or a delicious meal while recharging your batteries in this unique alpine setting.
