Snow fun for young and old.
The Lötschental is considered one of the most snow-assured Alpine valleys in Switzerland. The sunny Lauchernalp lies amidst an imposing mountain backdrop of 40 four-thousand-metre peaks. At an altitude of up to 3111 metres above sea level, 33 kilometres of superbly groomed pistes, a first-class freeride area, 50 kilometres of marked winter hiking trails and a snowshoe trail await winter sports enthusiasts. With a wide range of difficulty levels from blue to black slopes, the ski area is ideal for families. The snow sports school Cool School offers courses at different levels and - for the very young guests - child care. After a long day on the slopes, cosy inns in the villages of the valley await tired legs and hungry mouths.
Alpine insider tip.
The Lauchernalp is very popular with ski mountaineers. In the direction of Petersgrat or Gitzifurka there are numerous opportunities for off-piste skiing. There is also a 35-kilometre-long cross-country ski trail running through the entire Lötschental as far as Fafleralp. Various toboggan runs in the middle of the magnificent winter landscape provide rapid variety. Other highlights include the weekly night-time ski run and the cross-country skiing tour under a full moon.
