Winter
Fun in the snow for young and old.
The Lötschental is considered one of the most snow-sure Alpine valleys in Switzerland. The sunny Lauchernalp lies amidst an impressive mountain backdrop of 40 four-thousand-metre peaks. At an altitude of up to 3111 metres above sea level, 55 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes, a first-class freeride area, 50 kilometres of marked winter hiking trails and a snowshoe trail await winter sports enthusiasts. The wide range of difficulty levels from blue to black slopes makes the ski area ideal for families. The Cool School snow sports school offers courses at different levels and - for the very young guests - childcare. After an extended day on the slopes, cosy inns await tired legs and hungry mouths in the villages of the valley.
Alpine insider tip.
Lauchernalp is very popular among ski mountaineers. There are numerous opportunities for off-piste skiing in the direction of Petersgrat or Gitzifurka. A 35-kilometre cross-country ski trail runs through the entire Lötschental to Fafleralp. Various toboggan runs in the midst of the magnificent winter landscape provide a fast-paced change of pace. Other highlights are the weekly night ski run and the cross-country ski tour at full moon.
