Lötschental

The unique Lötschental lies nestled between the Bernese and Valais Alps and is probably one of the most authentic valleys in Switzerland. Until the opening of the Lötschberg tunnel in 1913 and the construction of the road in the 1950s, it was difficult to reach. As a result, the "Gateway to the Valais" has been able to retain much of the charm that has made Switzerland famous as a tourist destination and which many holiday resorts have now lost.
